The first of four Steba interviews introducing the world of the company comes out today:
all about its Steba history, logo and slogan.
An interesting discussion with the management of the quality cosmetic packaging company since 1987:
All about the Steba slogan
Steba: the quality company in the packaging industry.
Why the choice of the slogan “Steba: the creative side of packaging”?
We thought about the “creative side of packaging” because Steba wants to create, together with the customer, something unique and special about the container or packaging.
Our goal is to give a complete service from the choice of the product (bottle, airless bottle, glass, aluminum etc.), as the “raw material,” to the final customization of the product itself.
It is important for us to have a relationship with the customer, to understand exactly what he or she needs.
To explain further, we help choose and make a creative on a container that we have in stock. We sell the piece anonymously so that it can be sold to any type of customer.
Did the slogan originate in 1987 or was it created later?
It was created only two years ago.
Steba, like a little bit of every other company, also wanted to adapt to the need to communicate its philosophy in one sentence.
This slogan was thought of to define our identity.
In the beginning it was not so important. Now we even put it in the boxes for classic product packaging always to identify Steba.
Steba logo
What does Steba’s logo represent? What about the colors?
It represents an “S” which stands precisely for Steba.
We chose to inscribe it in a circle so that it could be printed on any kind of image, medium, surface and product.
The colors were chosen by my sister and I out of our own twofold personal preference, they have no specific meaning but I think they will remain these.
We liked to play on the negative of the shape. At first the circle is the shape you notice first, but if you look at it carefully, you can recognize the S contained right in the circle and in these two shades (the green and yellow).
Steba’s story
How was Steba born?
Steba was created for a specific market.
I will give an example: a company that is just starting out in the cosmetics business needs to create a new type of product.
It would like to start with a limited purchase of pieces to understand the demand and then grow step by step.
Steba was born precisely for these realities.
In the early days of Steba history
In fact, in the beginning Steba had very few competitors nationwide, there were three of us, then slowly many more came in as the idea was a winner.
I still remember when there were very few of us in Steba.
A family business in which my role was to reach any customer.
I would look for the most convenient and fastest routes, take my car and follow the directions marked on the map.
At that time I even did sales over the phone because there was no internet yet.
There were specific newspapers with the whole list of customers and suppliers, I would call and make the appointment. It was a school in every sense of the word.
Especially in dealing with customers, partly because I was a little girl with a briefcase in those days. Purchasing offices were usually populated by men much older than me who initially doubted my skills but were then amazed when I provided all the information I knew.
I like my job so much, I have a constant curiosity and desire to learn in order to keep up with all the innovations and trends.
In the end, you gained experience directly in the field.
Yes, I would call or be called, take the car to reach the client. My experience was on the road. I think in our industry the most beautiful aspect is to “be a salesperson” in the sense that you have to have the desire to approach something different from your field. It is very different to sell the plastic bottle and go to the customer and propose it. The difference is in confronting the customer, listening to him and understanding what kind of product he needs to create and directing him to one product rather than another. This is really the most creative and beautiful part: the “design” part, that is, making something together with the customer that can satisfy him and Steba as well.
